The Story Behind the Academy
The military didn't just train my body — it shaped how I lead. Discipline, accountability, showing up consistently, putting others first. Those aren't just military values. They're the foundation of every good relationship. And when I came home, I found that same language in dogs.
Dogs don't respond to frustration or inconsistency. They respond to calm authority, clear expectations, and a leader they can trust. The moment I recognized that parallel — between the leadership I learned in uniform and what a dog actually needs — Kerr K9 Academy was born.
My wife Abby and I have been building our life together for over 20 years. Our sons Kam and Jaxon grew up in a home where structure and love were never opposites — where accountability came alongside grace, and leadership was modeled, not just talked about. Our dogs Tank and Maverick are part of that family too, and living proof that the right training doesn't just create obedience. It strengthens bonds.
